Biography

Nikhil Naren, a specialist in the intersection of law and technology, is an Assistant Professor at the Jindal Global Law School and Of Counsel at Scriboard. His teaching and research lie in exploring how technologies challenge the limits of the law [and the ways to tackle it!], and the overall intersection of law and technology and its impact on society. One of the youngest awardees of the highly coveted and prestigious British Chevening Scholarship from India, he also received the prestigious ‘Gold Award’ from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office for volunteering in the United Kingdom. He has worked on the Microsoft-funded 'Cloud Legal Project' and consulted for the Digital Economy Capacity-Building Section at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development [UNCTAD], Geneva. Nikhil has been the Course Coordinator for the course Regulation of Technology and Cyberspace and is presently teaching his elective on Regulating Artificial Intelligence at the Jindal Global Law School. 

A noted author and columnist, he has co-authored two editions of the book Artificial Intelligence and Law: Challenges Demystified [2022 & 2024], Internet Law [2020], and regularly contributes opinion pieces for leading national dailies such as LiveMint, The Hindu, The New Indian Express, Firstpost, News18, The South First, among others. His upcoming book, Technology Law: Regulations, Cyber Policy, and the Digital Landscape, is due for release in September 2025. 

He advises leading corporations on the aspects of intellectual property, privacy, data protection, and emerging technologies. Nikhil is frequently invited for corporate trainings and teaching the intersection of law and technology; he has delivered sessions for leading organisations such as HCLTech, Luthra & Luthra Law Offices, and Officers from the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India. Apart from delivering lectures at more than a dozen law schools in the Country, he has also taught credit courses on law and technology at prominent institutions such as the National Law University, Odisha and the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata and is teaching his seminar course on Artificial Intelligence and Law as a visiting faculty at the National Law University, Delhi.
