Prof. (Dr.) C. Raj Kumar
Founding Vice Chancellor & Dean Jindal Global Law School

Professor C. Raj Kumar was appointed as the Founding Vice Chancellor of O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU) in India at the age of 34 in 2009. Professor Kumar also serves as the Founding Dean of Jindal Global Law School (JGLS) and Director of the International Institute for Higher Education Research & Capacity Building (IIHEd).

JGU has completed nine years and has grown into a multidisciplinary and research-oriented university with seven different schools relating to law, business, international affairs, public policy, liberal arts & humanities, journalism & communication, art & architecture and banking & finance. JGU has acquired a stellar reputation in India and abroad for its effort to promoting excellence in teaching, research, capacity building and community service. In recognition of its contributions, JGU was awarded the highest grade “A” in the national accreditation process of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.

Professor Kumar has academic qualifications from the University of Oxford, Harvard University, University of Hong Kong, University of Delhi and Loyola College. He was a faculty member at the School of Law of City University of Hong Kong, where he taught for many years. He was a Rhodes Scholar at the University of Oxford, UK, where he obtained his Bachelor of Civil Law (B.C.L.) degree; a Landon Gammon Fellow at the Harvard Law School, USA, where he obtained his Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree and a James Souverine Gallo Memorial Scholar at the Harvard University. He was awarded the Doctor of Legal Science (S.J.D.) by the University of Hong Kong. He also obtained a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree from the University of Delhi, India; and a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) degree from the Loyola College of the University of Madras, India.

Professor Kumar's areas of specialization include, human rights and development, comparative constitutional law, terrorism and national security, corruption and governance, law and disaster management, legal education and higher education. He has over hundred and fifty publications to his credit and has published widely in peer reviewed journals and law reviews in Australia, Hong Kong, India, Japan and USA, some of which are the American University International Law Review, Asia Pacific Law Review, Australian Journal of Asian Law, Columbia Journal of Asian Law, Corporate Governance International, Denver Journal of International Law & Policy, Georgetown Journal of International Law, Hong Kong Lawyer, Human Rights Quarterly, Indian Journal of Criminology, Indian Journal of International Law, Indian Journal of Public Administration, ILSA Journal of International & Comparative Law, Indiana Journal of Global Legal Studies, Journal of the International Peace Research Institute, Journal of the National Human Rights Commission, Loyola of Los Angeles International and Comparative Law Review, Michigan State Journal of International Law, New England Journal of International and Comparative Law, Proceedings of the American Society of International Law, San Diego International Law Journal, Tulane Journal of International and Comparative Law, Tulsa Journal of Comparative and International Law and UC Davis Law Review. Professor Kumar has contributed articles in newspapers and magazines published from Hong Kong, India and the UK, which include, South China Morning Post, The Standard, Frontline, The Hindu, Hindustan Times, Financial Express, The Tribune, The Pioneer, Seminar, Global-is-Asian, The Economic Times, The Times of India, Indian Express, Deccan Herald, Deccan Chronicle, Economic &

Political Weekly and Open Democracy. He has been interviewed on issues relating to law and justice, human rights and governance, and education by the media in Hong Kong, Japan and India, including radio and television: India Today TV, CNN IBN, News Now, Lok Sabha TV, Rajya Sabha TV, Star News, ATV, All India Radio, RTHK and NHK.

Professor Kumar has held consultancy assignments in the field of human rights and governance. He has been a Consultant to the United Nations University (UNU), Tokyo; United Nations Development Programme (UNDP); UN Office of the High Commissioner of Human Rights, Geneva; and the International Council for Human Rights Policy (ICHRP), Geneva. He has advised the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) in Sri Lanka and the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) in India on issues relating to corruption and good governance. Professor Kumar is an Attorney at Law and is admitted to the Bar Council of Delhi, India and the Bar of the State of New York, USA.

He holds a PhD in Organizational Behaviour and a Post Graduate degree in Psychology with specialization in Industrial Psychology from Punjab University, Chandigarh. He has an extensive industry/government/ academic background with 30 years of experience in the field of human resources and behavioural management. He has dedicated 14 years as a scientist in the Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) and Sports Authority of India (SAI).

He has an extensive industry/government/ academic background with 30 years of experience in the field of human resources and behavioural management. He has dedicated 14 years as a scientist in the Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) and Sports Authority of India (SAI).In his last years in JSPL, he has served in various capacities like Head - Corporate HR, Head - Strategic HR and has been instrumental in revamping HR practices in the organization. After successfully leading the HR functions of the organization for six years, in 2012 he was entrusted with another challenging role of Head - Education. Dr. Sahni also worked as Co-Project Director of the Montgomery College, India Initiative, “Transforming Boundaries funded by US State Department and USIEF”.

His contribution across the globe has been cosmic. He has worked as a research scientist at several universities like University of Houston, Texas, University of Illinois, Chicago to name a few. With a perfect blend of academics and industry exposure, he has been invited by several institutes in over 40 countries. He has also served as a secretary to Indian Association of Sports Medicine and Sports Psychology Association of India.

He has authored, co-authored, edited and reviewed Eight books. He has delivered lectures and keynote addresses at various institutes in India and abroad and has published numerous research papers in various national and international journals of repute. He is also awarded with fellowship for Indian Association of Sports Medicine, Sports Psychology Association of India and Indian Council of Medical Research. Dr. Sahni has been conferred with “Edupreneur of the Year 2015” award by then Minister of State for Higher and Technical Education, Government of Gujarat for building a university of global competence and research in India. Dr. Sahni has also been awarded the Medal of Honour by the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, the most prominent national academic institution in Serbia.

Dr. Sahni is one of the few Indian psychologists to have dispensed his immense knowledge towards the development of society and nation.

Prof. Y.S.R. Murthy has served in the National Human Rights Commission of India in various capacities for over 12 years including as the Director, Policy Research, Programmes and Projects Division. As a civil servant, he also held a number of responsible and sensitive assignments including as the Director, Media and Communications to the Prime Minister’s Office, President’s Secretariat and Cabinet Secretariat from 2005-07.

Prof. Y.S.R. Murthy has served in the National Human Rights Commission of India in various capacities for over 12 years including as the Director, Policy Research, Programmes and Projects Division. As a civil servant, he also held a number of responsible and sensitive assignments including as the Director, Media and Communications to the Prime Minister’s Office, President’s Secretariat and Cabinet Secretariat from 2005-07.

He provided research support to the National Human Rights Commission’s efforts through Policy research, legal analysis and monitoring of research projects on Human Rights. He spearheaded the Commission’s advocacy and monitoring efforts in the areas of public health, HIV/AIDS, disability, rights of Scheduled Castes, mentally ill persons, refugees, migrants and displaced persons, torture, terrorism and international human rights conventions. He was responsible for organizing many national public inquiries, seminars as well as international and regional conferences. He represented the Commission at many international conferences including in the Durban World Conference against Racism in 2001 as well as the Durban Review Conference in 2009, Asia Pacific Forum of National Human Rights Institutions, Commonwealth Forum of National Human Rights Institutions, International Coordinating Committee of National Human Rights Commissions.

Prof. Murthy edited the annual Journal of the National Human Rights Commission for over five years and its monthly newsletter for over three years. He was responsible for over 30 publications of the Commission on diverse aspects of Human Rights. He published a number of books and articles. Significant ones among them include 'Human Rights
 
Handbook' by Lexis Nexis Butterworth in October, 2007, 'Halsbury’s Laws of India, Human Rights' title by Lexis Nexis Butterworth in July 2005, co-contributor for District Magistrate’s Manual on Human Rights (2007) and Manual on Torture for Health Professionals. (2004). In addition, he published a number of articles in newspapers and his talks on human rights were broadcast by the All India Radio.
 
Prof. Murthy secured Master’s Degree in Statistics from the University of Madras [1982-84] where he stood First in the University. Subsequently he was awarded the British Chevening Fellowship by the British Council for pursuing M.A. degree in Human Rights at the Institute of Commonwealth Studies, University of London in 1998-99. He secured his Ph.D. from Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University, Chennai. His research interests include Human rights, terrorism, torture, International Criminal Court, right to development and International Humanitarian Law and Refugee Law. Deeply interested in teaching, he was a visiting faculty in the Indian Law Institute, Indian Society of International Law and Jamia Millia Islamia.

Prof. (Dr.) Sreeram Chaulia
Professor and Dean, Executive Director,Centre for Global Governance and Policy, Jindal School of International Affairs

Dr. Sreeram Chaulia is Professor and Dean at the Jindal School of International Affairs of O.P. Jindal Global University. He holds a Doctorate (Ph.D.) and a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Political Science and International Relations from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, Syracuse University, USA. He holds a Master of Science (MSc.) degree in History of International Relations at the London School of Economics and Political Science, UK. He was a Radhakrishnan British Chevening Scholar at the University of Oxford, UK, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Modern History. He also has a Bachelor of Arts Honours (B.A. Hons.) from St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi, India.

Professor Chaulia’s areas of specialisation include diplomacy, foreign policy, comparative politics, international political economy, international organisations, armed conflict, humanitarian practices, and contemporary world history. He has over eight hundred and twenty publications to his credit. His writings have appeared in journals in the USA, UK, Australia, Canada and India, some of which are Seton Hall Journal of Diplomacy and International Relations; Journal of Refugee Studies, Journal of Humanitarian Assistance, International Politics, World Affairs, International Journal of Peace Studies, South Asia: Journal of South Asian Studies, Economic and Political Weekly, Contemporary South Asia Journal and India Quarterly. Prof. Chaulia is Contributing Editor to the book PEOPLE WHO INFLUENCED THE WORLD OVER THE PAST 100 YEARS (2005), published by Murray Books, Adelaide. He is the author of the book INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS AND CIVILIAN PROTECTION: POWER, IDEAS AND HUMANITARIAN AID IN CONFLICT ZONES (2011), published by I.B. Tauris, London, and a contributor of two chapters to the book HANDBOOK OF INDIA’S INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS (2011), published by Routledge, London. His book, POLITICS OF THE GLOBAL ECONOMIC CRISIS: REGULATION, RESPONSIBILITY AND RADICALISM was published in 2013 by Routledge, New York, London & New Delhi. His latest book, MODI DOCTRINE: THE FOREIGN POLICY OF INDIA'S PRIME MINISTER was published in 2016 by Bloomsbury, New York, Sydney, London & New Delhi. 

Professor Chaulia publishes a fortnightly 'Foreign Pulse' column in 'The Asian Age'/'Deccan Chronicle' and also writes columns in 'The Economic Times' and 'The Times of India'. He was a long time op-ed columnist on international current affairs for the Washington D.C.-based 'The Globalist', Hong Kong-based 'Asia Times' and the New Delhi-based 'Financial Express'. His op-eds have also appeared in leading newspapers, including 'The Wall Street Journal', 'Japan Times', 'South China Morning Post', 'The Straits Times', 'Hindustan Times', 'The Hindu', 'The Statesman' and 'New Indian Express'.

Professor Chaulia has been interviewed on issues relating to the global economy, contemporary armed conflicts and world politics by Russia Today TV (Moscow), the Xinhua Network (Beijing), South Africa Broadcasting Corporation (Johannesburg), Voice of America, Australian Broadcasting Corporation, Al Jazeera TV, Associated Press, Agence-France Presse, 'The New York Times', 'USA Today' and 'Forbes'. He was a frequent contributor to the Singapore-based syndicated columnist service, 'Opinion Asia', and has been cited in the world media for his analytical articles on pressing current events. He is a regular commentator on international current issues on Lok Sabha TV, Rajya Sabha TV, DD News and Republic TV in India. 

Prof. Chaulia has worked as an international civilian peacekeeper for the Brussells-based NGO, Nonviolent Peace force, in the war zones of eastern Sri Lanka and southern Philippines for over three years. He was a Contributing Editor serving on the Board of the Kashmir News Network (KNN), a rights advocacy organisation for minority victims of ethnic cleansing in the Indian state of Jammu & Kashmir. He is an advocate for freedom movements in Burma and Tibet and has written extensively about the problems of repression and human suffering under authoritarian regimes.

Professor Sudarshan Ramaswamy obtained a Master’s degree in Economics from the Delhi School of Economics in 1974. He was elected to a Rhodes scholarship and joined Balliol College, Oxford, from where he obtained a Master’s degree in Politics in 1977. He secured a research fellowship at St. John’s College, Cambridge, where he studied judicial review of economic legislation, specializing in the interface of law and economics. From Jan. 1984 till June 1991 he served in the Ford Foundation’s South Asia Office in New Delhi as Assistant Representative and Program Officer for Human Rights and Social Justice. In 1991 he joined the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in India as Senior Economist and Assistant Representative for Governance and Public Policy. In 2000 he moved to UNDP in Jakarta as Senior Governance Advisor. In 2002 he was appointed Policy Advisor for Justice and Governance in the UNDP Oslo Governance Centre. In 2005, he was transferred to the UNDP Asia-Pacific Centre in Bangkok, where he was Regional Policy Advisor for Governance, Human Rights, Rule of Law, Justice, and Legal Reforms. In 2012 he joined the O.P. Jindal Global University as the founding Dean of the Jindal School of Government and Public Policy. He has numerous publications comprising edited books, articles, and UN policy reports, reflecting his inter-disciplinary research, teaching and policy experience in development programmes, human development, law, governance, institutions and policy.

Prof. Kathleen A. Modrowski
Professor & Dean, Jindal School of Liberal Arts & Humanities

Kathleen Modrowski is Dean of the Jindal School of Liberal Arts and Humanities (JSLH) of O.P. Jindal Global University, where she teaches courses in Social Science Research Methods, directs courses in field-based, experiential learning and is chair of the University Sexual Harassment Committee.

Kathleen Modrowski is Dean of the Jindal School of Liberal Arts and Humanities (JSLH) of O.P. Jindal Global University, where she teaches courses in Social Science Research Methods, directs courses in field-based, experiential learning and is chair of the University Sexual Harassment Committee. Prof. Modrowski studied in the United States and France where she received an advanced degree in cultural anthropology and ethnology of the Arab world at the School of Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences (EHESS). Prof. Modrowski held faculty and administrative position Long Island University at the Southampton Campus in 1991, and the initiation of the four-year Global Studies B.A. directed from the Brooklyn LIU campus in 2005. Since 1994 Kathleen has worked with PDHRE to promote human rights learning and the Human Rights Cities Program. Within PDHRE she has served as a member of the Board of Directors and Chair Education Program Committee. Prof. Modrowski developed and conducted training programs in non-formal human rights education and human rights – based community development in many countries. Her recent projects include, developing Human Rights Cities in Kenya, Mali and India. The right to traditional medicine as a right to health and experiential education has been among her main areas of interest. Recent research is on comparative pedagogies and education policy in India and South Asia and in participatory rural development strategies.

Prof. Thomas James Goldstein

Professor Goldstein is a distinguished American journalism educator, education administrator and author. For 15 years, he served as dean of the journalism schools at Columbia and at Berkeley—the only universities in the United States where journalism is taught exclusively at the graduate level.

Professor Goldstein is a distinguished American journalism educator, education administrator and author. For 15 years, he served as dean of the journalism schools at Columbia and at Berkeley—the only universities in the United States where journalism is taught exclusively at the graduate level.

Born in Buffalo, New York, he is a graduate of Yale University, where he majored in English, and the Columbia University Law School as well as its Graduate School of Journalism.

Early in his career, while still in law school, he edited a new magazine called Juris Doctor. He then worked for Newsday (on Long Island), the Wall Street Journal (in New York City), the Associated Press (in New York City) and the New York Times (in New York City), where he covered legal issues for six years. While at the New York Times, he began teaching part-time at the graduate program at New York University.

Starting in 1980, he served as principal Press Secretary to New York City Mayor Edward I. Koch for two years. He then embarked on a career as a freelance writer, where he wrote for dozens of magazines, and he began writing books, including The News at Any Cost. While writing analytical books about press performance, he pursued a parallel career in academia.

Over the years, Professor Goldstein had the honor of holding five “named” chairs—at the University of Florida at Gainesville (1983-84), the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University (1994), the Graduate School of Journalism at Columbia (July 2000-June 2002), Stanford University (Fall 2002), and Arizona State University (2003 and 2004).

Professor Goldstein joined the faculty of the University of California at Berkeley in 1984 and served as dean of its journalism school from 1988 and 1996 and again from 2011-2012.) For eleven-and-a-half years, from 2005 to 2016, he served as director of Berkeley’s undergraduate program in media studies, which now enrolls about 500 students. From 2014-2016, he chaired the Admissions Committee for the entire University of California at Berkeley.

Professor Goldstein took a leave from Berkeley in 1997 to serve as Dean of his alma mater, the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. While dean, he supervised the Columbia Journalism Review, the leading journal about press issues in the United States, and served as a member of the board of the Pulitzer Prize, the premier journalism award in the United States.

Before returning to Berkeley, Professor Goldstein taught at Stanford and at Arizona State University. Professor Goldstein’s last book, Journalism and Truth, was published in 2007. He is now completing a book about the historical links between advertising and news.

In the past 20 years, Professor Goldstein has worked as an expert witness in more than 25 legal cases involving press issues. He has consulted with many non-profit and for-profit organizations on press practices, including the Ford Foundation, McKinsey, and most recently, Twitter. He also spent a dozen years as a consultant on ethical issues to the top editors of Bloomberg, a global financial data company.

Prof. Barnes was Principal and Chief Academic Officer of the British College in Kathmandu, Nepal which directly delivers undergraduate and postgraduate degrees awarded by two U.K. universities. Prior to that Michael was Chair of the Accounting & Finance department within the Faculty of Economics & Commerce at Hoa Sen University in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. He also taught undergraduate and graduate courses as a visiting overseas professor in Vietnam at Ton Duc Thang University, RMIT University, Paris Graduate School of Management, the University of Economics (UEH) and the University of Technology (HUTECH).

He also taught undergraduate and graduate courses as a visiting overseas professor in Vietnam at Ton Duc Thang University, RMIT University, Paris Graduate School of Management, the University of Economics (UEH) and the University of Technology (HUTECH). For three years (2012-15) he was the founding Dean and Professor of the School of Business & Economics at Tan Tao University in Long An Province, Vietnam. Professor Barnes first came to India and JGU in 2010 - as founding Dean and Professor of Management of Jindal Global Business School, graduating the first MBA cohort in 2012. Immediately before coming to India he had served as Academic Dean for S.P. Jain School of Global Management’s Global MBA Programme in the twin campuses of Dubai /Singapore, having previously founded as Academic Dean, Hult International Business School’s first ever ‘satellite campus’ in Dubai, UAE in 2007-08. Before entering full-time academia in 2000, Michael worked for many years in international banking - first at Brown Brothers Harriman & Co. in New York, then with J Henry Schroder Wagg & Co. Limited in London, England, and later as executive director of Lazard Asset Management, Union Bank of Switzerland (UBS), Fuji International Finance, and The Industrial Bank of Japan (IBJ), following his time as Investment Officer with The World Bank in Washington DC. From 2000 he was Assistant Dean for Action Learning & Corporate Liaison at the Weatherhead School of Management, Case Western Reserve University (Ohio), and later MBA Director for the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. He was named inaugural John F. Fiedler/BorgWarner Endowed Chair in Global Business Studies at Kent State University, Ohio, USA (2003-07) teaching finance, economics, global strategy, and international business courses before taking up his decanal duties 2007-2017. Michael holds a BSc (Hons.) in Economics from the London School of Economics & Political Science, his MBA is from Stanford University Graduate School of Business, and his Doctor of Management degree was awarded by the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University, Ohio, USA in 1999. His research interests include global business strategy, law in business, global portfolio investment, and global regime formation around public goods issues (like Climate Change) which was the focus of his doctoral dissertation.

NMDC Ltd., a Navratna PSU & India’s largest Mining Organization, Jindal Steel & Power Ltd., Country’s fastest growing Steel Company and Vedanta Resources Plc., India’s largest Zinc & 2nd largest Aluminium producer.

While working with these prestigious organizations, he had the privilege of looking after the entire gamut of HR with special focus on talent acquisition, development and retention.

During this eventful journey, Mr. Mishra was recognized as one of the future leaders in the minerals & metal industry and was also nominated twice as a panel member in The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Panel for HR, IR & Training.

Lt. Gen Dr. Rajesh Kochhar is a highly decorated retired general officer of Indian Army from Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers with a distinguished career spanning four decades. He holds a Ph.D. in Human Resources Management from Meerut University, M.Phil. in Defence Management from DAVV, Indore University, MSc in Defence Studies from Madras University, a Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Management from Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers.

Lt. Gen Dr. Rajesh Kochhar is a highly decorated retired general officer of Indian Army from Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers with a distinguished career spanning four decades. He holds a Ph.D. in Human Resources Management from Meerut University, M.Phil. in Defence Management from DAVV, Indore University, MSc in Defence Studies from Madras University, a Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Management from Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers. He is also a graduate of the prestigious National Defence College as also a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers. He has participated in the UN Peace Keeping mission in Somalia and has represented the Indian Army on official delegations to France, UK, Sweden, Italy, Australia and Philippines.

He has a rich experience of strategizing military leadership, human resource management, strategic planning, macro level policy formulation, resource management and operation logistics. He is an experienced team leader, planner and executor of large scale logistic operations. He has lectured widely on military leadership at Indian School of Business, Indian Institute of Management, Management Development Institute and various other management institutes in the country.

He has been decorated four times by the President of India, once by the Chief of Army staff and twice by the Army Commanders for distinguished service. Formerly Chief of Staff of the Army Training Command, also called the “Think Tank” of the Indian Army.

The General officer superannuated from the Indian army in September 2012 and joined O.P. Jindal Global University as the Senior Director of the Jindal Institute of Leadership Development and Executive Education (JILDEE). He is also now the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of OPJGU.

Arun Kumar Jain
Senior Director - Finance & Accounts

Arun Jain is a Chartered Accountant from ICAI. He brings along with himself a rich experience of over 22 years in wide ranging businesses viz. Pharmaceuticals, Education and hospitality.

Mr. Jain has worked with reputed institutions and organizations viz. AIMIL Pharmaceuticals India Ltd.; Span Air Pvt. Ltd. and Institute of Management Technology (IMT). Prior to joining JGU, he was working with Bennett University.

Director - Global Library

Mr. Buddhi Prakash Chauhan is presently the Founder Director of Global Library at O. P. Jindal Global University, Sonepat (JGU); joined in July 2009.During his professional career spanning over 40 years, he has worked in a variety of organizations from government to industry to academic. He started his professional career in October 1979 as a Librarian Grade 2 in Ministry of Law Library, Government of India, which he left to set up the library and information services at three prominent organizations namely, Centre for Cultural resources & Training, New Delhi, Semiconductor Complex Ltd (Now semiconductor Laboratory), Mohali, and Swaraj Mazda Ltd. Near Ropar during the next 4 years. He played a significant role in introduction of and innovation in technology in the British Council Libraries in India and globally in the 1980s and 1990s.

Mr. Chauhan visited the United States of America in the year 2002-2003 as Fulbright Fellow, and was affiliated with Digital Library Research Laboratory and Information Retrieval, Analysis, and Management Centre (IRAM) at Virginia Tech, Blacksburg. He worked on Community of Practices in Technology Innovations in SMEs.

Mr. Chauhan, has played a key role in establishing Consortium of Private Academic Libraries In India (COPAL), of which is he the founder President.

Mr. Chauhan has presented several papers in international and national conferences on librarianship, information management, and industrial research & development. He has also participated in several national and international conferences and training programmes in India USA and UK.

In addition to Libraries and Information Science, Mr. Chauhan has professional and academic experience of managing intellectual property rights and technology transfer and marketing of services. He is consulted by several R&D Centres in on patents.

Director - Quality Assurance and Accreditation

Aman Shah has extensive experience in top-ranked universities in Hong Kong in a variety of senior positions. His expertise relates to quality assurance systems, accreditation and ranking of educational institutions, reform of governance of universities, curriculum design and implementation of outcomes based teaching and learning across all disciplines. In his previous role as the founding Registrar of JGU, he had a key role in the development and institution building of JGU in the crucial early days of the University. He also had the privilege of establishing the International Office at JGU, of which he was the Director for nearly 3 years.

She regularly appeared in courts in the U.S. She has worked in a diverse set of practice areas, including oil and gas, government procurements, insurance, maritime, construction and general commercial dispute resolution. She is admitted to the Bar of the State of Oregon, and the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon. She teaches a popular seminar on commercial contract drafting.

Prof. Arjya B. Majumdar
Associate Professor, JGLS and Director - Academic Planning, Co-ordination & Interdisciplinarity

Professor Arjya B. Majumdar is the Director for Academic Planning, Co-ordination and Interdisciplinarity at the O.P. Jindal Global University.

He graduated from St Joseph’s College in Calcutta, and went on to study law, completing his bachelor’s degree in law from the National University of Juridical Sciences, Calcutta, one of India’s premier law schools. He also pursued his master degree in law from Tulane University, New Orleans, USA.

Professor Arjya B. Majumdar is the Director for Academic Planning, Co-ordination and Interdisciplinarity at the O.P. Jindal Global University.

He graduated from St Joseph’s College in Calcutta, and went on to study law, completing his bachelor’s degree in law from the National University of Juridical Sciences, Calcutta, one of India’s premier law schools. He also pursued his master degree in law from Tulane University, New Orleans, USA.

His career began in 2007, having joined Fox Mandal Little, one of India’s oldest and largest law firms at the time. As a corporate lawyer, Professor Majumdar was advising large corporate houses on matters relating to mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, foreign investments into India, joint ventures and private equity. He has also on occasion, advised the Government of India in their disinvestment program. He eventually set up his own capital markets practice with Desai & Diwanji in 2011. Having seen the law industry through and through, he then turned to academia, joining O.P. Jindal Global University in 2013.

At JGU, he continues to teach corporate and commercial law, but through the last four years, he has established himself as an innovative and resourceful higher education administrator, creating and implementing academic policies for one of India’s top private universities. As Director for Academic Planning, he is responsible for all academic matters relating to over 3500 students and 280 faculty members across the eight schools of the O.P. Jindal Global University.

In terms of his research, Professor Majumdar is widely renowned to be an expert in corporate social responsibility, crowdfunding and cryptocurrency, having published a number of books and articles in these areas. He has also been a visiting research fellow at the University of Liverpool, the National University of Singapore and the University of Melbourne. He has lectured globally, including countries such as the United States, Canada, Italy, Israel, China and Malaysia.

Apart from his academic pursuits, Professor Majumdar is also an avid mountaineer, having been trained at the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute and is a self-taught musician and vocalist, having performed at various Broadway theatre shows and operas in Delhi.

Professor, JGBS and Executive Director (Corporate Relations, Career Services & Institution Building)

Dr. Pankaj Gupta is currently Professor and Executive Director (Corporate Relations, Career Services & Institution Building) at O P Jindal Global University at Sonipat (Delhi NCR). He is also the Executive Director for Centre for Ethics, Spirituality & Sustainability at JGU. Dr. Gupta is a PhD, Fulbright Fellow, CMA, GCPCL (Harvard), Fellow of ICAI, and an alumnus of Lucknow University & IIM Ahmedabad.

Dr. Pankaj Gupta is currently Professor and Executive Director (Corporate Relations, Career Services & Institution Building) at O P Jindal Global University at Sonipat (Delhi NCR). He is also the Executive Director for Centre for Ethics, Spirituality & Sustainability at JGU. Dr. Gupta is a PhD, Fulbright Fellow, CMA, GCPCL (Harvard), Fellow of ICAI, and an alumnus of Lucknow University & IIM Ahmedabad.

Dr. Gupta has successful professional experience of about 25 years with several top organizations such as IIM Kozhikode, IMT Ghaziabad, Symbiosis (SIBM), Educomp Raffles, University of Washington, S P Jain (Dubai & Singapore), ICSI etc. He was the Founding Director of two Institutions - Symbiosis (SIBM) Bangalore and JRE Group (Educomp Raffles). He has also held several top leadership positions such as Chief Advisor, Director General, and Vice-Chancellor etc. and made a significant contribution for the success and growth of the organizations he served. He also served as the Co-chairman of Education Committee of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry for two successive terms.

Dr. Gupta has won 'Most Innovative Idea in Management Education Award' by Indian Management Conclave organized by Mbauniverse.com. He is also a recipient of the prestigious ‘Valuable Contribution to Profession Award’ by ICAI, New Delhi and ‘Rashtriya Shiksha Gaurav Award’ by CEGR, New Delhi. IIM Ahmedabad has written a case study on the transformative work under his leadership.

With numerous books and research papers to his credit, Dr. Gupta is a much sought after speaker at top business schools across the globe. Prof. Sean P. Bala

Professor Bala completed his B.A. in the Comparative Study of Religion from Harvard University in 2009 and his M.A. from the Divinity School at the University of Chicago in 2013. His research focuses broadly on questions concerning the role of religion in modernity and the role of religion in the formation of individual and community identities.

While his earlier work has focused on the religious landscape of the United States, he has continued to pursue a broader line of research in India through an ongoing project studying the idea of space and identity in the Shia community of India. In addition to his research work on religion, he also peruses research theater and dramatic arts and has in the past worked as a theater director and producer. Additional research topics of interest include philosophy, ethics, and theology. In JSLH, he has as the Assistant Dean of Student Initiatives and Compliance, the liaison for the Jindal-Rollins degree program, and was part of the Curriculum and Majors Design Committee.

He currently serves as the Director of Admissions and Outreach for O.P. Jindal Global University.

Princy M. George
Director - Strategic Initiatives and Institutional Research

Princy George is Director, Office of Strategic Initiatives and Institutional Research at JGU, Fellow, International Institute for Higher Education Research & Capacity Building (IIHEd) and Executive Director, Centre for Global Higher Education Futures.

Prior to joining JGU, she led the Middle East and South Asia armed forces desk at IHS Jane’s, a global provider of country risk, defence and security insights. This included research, analysis, production, and publication of IHS Jane’s military capabilities and political risk assessments for 23 countries including India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Iran, and evolving security developments across key conflict zones including Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Israel, and Egypt. She previously worked with the leading national think tank, the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (IDSA), New Delhi, as a researcher on Middle Eastern and West African Affairs, focusing on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Northern Africa, and the Western Sahel. She coordinated two high-level collaborative projects between IDSA and the Indian government (Ministry of Defence and Ministry of External Affairs), studying strategic security issues relating to India and its neighbourhood. The projects led to policy recommendations for the formulation of a National Security Strategy for India, and scenarios for Indian defence technology preparedness to the year 2050.

Prior to working in India, she worked at multiple organisations in the United States, including The George Washington University; MetaMetrics, an international development organisation based in Washington DC; and United Palestinian Appeal, a non-profit organisation working to aid Palestinian refugees. Her research interests include higher education policy, Indian higher education, education in conflict, educational organisation and leadership, art and educational spaces, and strategic issues and conflict in the Middle East. Publications include: V. Krishnappa and Princy Marin George (ed.), Grand Strategy for India 2020 and Beyond (2012), book reviews, official research reports, and online analyses and commentaries.
She received her MA degree in International Affairs with a specialisation in Middle East Affairs from the Elliott School of International Affairs, The George Washington University, Washington DC. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Technology from Cochin University, India.

Krishan Kumar Pandey is Professor & Director “Office of Doctoral Studies” at O.P. Jindal Global University where he has been since January 2016.  He has also worked in Jindal Global Business School as Professor & Vice Dean, Academics all most for two years before stepping in the current role. He received a Bachelor of Science & Master of Science in 2000 & 2002 respectively in Mathematics & Statistics from J.N.V. University. He received his Ph.D. in Statistics with thesis on Small Area Estimation Technique from J.N.V. University in 2007. He also holds Master of Business Administration degree in Management.

Krishan Kumar Pandey is Professor & Director “Office of Doctoral Studies” at O.P. Jindal Global University where he has been since January 2016.  He has also worked in Jindal Global Business School as Professor & Vice Dean, Academics all most for two years before stepping in the current role. He received a Bachelor of Science & Master of Science in 2000 & 2002 respectively in Mathematics & Statistics from J.N.V. University. He received his Ph.D. in Statistics with thesis on Small Area Estimation Technique from J.N.V. University in 2007. He also holds Master of Business Administration degree in Management.  

Fifteen years ago, he started his career as a teacher and consultant, worked for reputed firms and prestigious universities in capacity of different academic and administrative positions.

His research interests span both Applied and Pure statistics. His initial work in pure statistics is related to Sample Survey, Small Area Estimation and Statistical Modeling. Whereas, in applied research he has contributed significantly through his research papers related to Data Mining, Energy & Environmental modeling, Energy Policy, conceptual frameworks for Renewable & sustainable energy planning etc. Much of his work has been on understanding and filling the gaps, improving conceptual framework and suggestion for policy & planning in the relayed areas.

He has more than 30 research papers in international and national journals of repute on his name. As of March 2018, Elsevier research dashboard reports over 521 citations to his work with h-index 6 and downloads around 30,396.

His work has been published in Applied Energy, Renewable & Sustainable Energy Reviews, Renewable Energy, Energy Policy, Energy Research and Social Sciences (Elsevier), Energy Systems (Springer), Journal of Risk Finance (Emerald), Statistics in Transition etc. and has participated in several international & national conferences.

He has authored two books and one book chapter published by VDM Verlag, Germany and IGI global respectively. He has guided 12 Ph.D. scholars from across the industry (IBM, Wipro, GAIL, NMDC, PNGRB, BG etc.) and academia in different areas of his research interest.

He has served as Editor in Chief, for UPES Management Review- A bi annual International Journal of Core Sector (ISSN 2250 - 0723). He is also acting as an editorial board member and reviewer for various internationally reputed journals with high impact factor like Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, Applied Energy, Bioresource Technology (Elsevier), Environmental Technology (Taylor and Francis), International Journal of Logistics Management (Emerald) etc.

He has held sessions in European Union’s project for capability building of Indian aviation sector, jointly executed by UPES & Fachhochschule Frankfurt am Main University of Applied Sciences, Frankfurt, Germany. He has given numerous invited talks and tutorials and has conducted training sessions for executives from aviation and energy sectors- Oil India, IOCL, HPCL, BPCL, ONGC, GAIL, IBM etc.

He organized many international and national conferences as a convener and co convener for imparting and sharing the research fundamentals at various platforms. He has received many awards for his meaningful contribution and dedication towards research and development, which includes an outstanding reviewer award, best paper awards, Exemplary work award, Most Devoted Teacher Award, Young Statistician Award, Exemplary Research Award etc.

Surinder Kaur is working as Director of University Halls of Residence. She has been working with JGU for almost 6 years now.  She is instrumental in handling and mentoring young adults. Under her leadership, a team of wardens strive to create an environment which harmonizes well with the students’ ambitions and goals.  The health and well-being of students are integrated into the academic growth at JGU.  She and her team precisely plan various activities that open avenues for a healthy physical and social environment on Campus.

He has more than 31 years of rich experience in administration and logistics and has been part of JGU for the last more than 3 years.
